FITCH: catastrophes have no immediate rating impact on Japanese banks

(The following was released by the rating agency)

However, given the limited credit exposure of Fitch-rated Japanese banks to the Tohoku region that has been most affected by the recent catastrophes, the agency expects no immediate impact on ratings. Fitch will continue to monitor developments closely and any consequent impact on the banks.
