MEXICO CITY, Aug 12 (Reuters) - The Mexican central bank is expected to hold its benchmark interest rate steady on Thursday, according to a Reuters poll, even as analysts are increasingly bracing for the possibility of a rate cut to lift the country’s misfiring economy.
Eleven of the 16 analysts and economists surveyed by Reuters said they expect the Bank of Mexico (Banxico) to keep the key lending rate at 8.25%, the level it has maintained since Dec. 20.
Banxico has not cut rates since June 2014. (Reporting by Noe Torres in Mexico City and Gabriel Burin in Buenos Aires; Additional reporting by Miguel Angel Gutierrez; Writing by Anthony Esposito)
