Mexican president welcomes July start of USMCA trade pact

MEXICO CITY, April 27 (Reuters) - Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Monday that Mexico will be prepared for the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement to take effect at the start of July.

“I believe that by July 1, we will be in good shape to begin the treaty, as planned,” he told a regular news conference. The deal that replaces the North American Free Trade Agreement will enter into force on July 1, a month later than previously proposed.
