Michelin operating profit lifted by pricing, cost control

PARIS, July 25 (Reuters) - French tyre maker Michelin said revenue and operating income rose in the first half, as higher pricing and cost-cutting overcame a decline in sales volumes.

Tyre business operating income rose 8.4% to 1.438 billion euros ($1.6 billion) on an 11.1% revenue increase to 11.78 billion, the company said in a statement. Net income fell 8% to 844 million euros as sales declined 0.9% by volume. ($1 = 0.8964 euros) (Reporting by Laurence Frost; Editing by Kirsten Donovan)
