Idlib offensive would cause of collapse of Syria's political process, Turkey's Erdogan says

ISTANBUL, Sept 7 (Reuters) - The continuation of attacks in the rebel-held province of Idlib would lead to a collapse of the political process in Syria, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday.

Speaking in Tehran at a summit with the leaders of Iran and Russia, Erdogan said it is crucial to maintain Idlib’s current status.

The three leaders of the main outside players in Syria’s long war were meeting to discuss the fate of Idlib as rival factions there prepared for what could be the conflict’s last great battle. (Reporting by Ezgi Erkoyun and Humeyra Pamuk; Writing by Sarah Dadouch; Editing by David Dolan)
