UPDATE 1-Motor racing-Team by team analysis of the Italian Grand Prix

(Repeats clarifying Haas position)

MONZA, Italy, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Team by team analysis of Sunday’s Italian Formula One Grand Prix (listed in championship order):

- - - -

MERCEDES (Lewis Hamilton 1, Valtteri Bottas 3)

Hamilton’s sixth win of the season, and 68th of his career, sent him 30 points clear of Vettel. He had started third on the grid. It was Mercedes’s fifth win in a row at Monza and Hamilton’s career fifth there, equalling Michael Schumacher’s record. Bottas moved up to third post-race after Max Verstappen was penalised. Hamilton set the fastest lap.

-

FERRARI (Kimi Raikkonen 2, Sebastian Vettel 4)

Raikkonen took his 100th F1 podium after starting on pole position but losing out to Hamilton as tyre wear left him unable to fend off the Mercedes in the closing stages. Vettel collided with Hamilton at the fourth corner and dropped to 18th before fighting back. He also moved up after Verstappen’s penalty. Ferrari are now 25 points behind Mercedes.

-

RED BULL (Max Verstappen 5, Daniel Ricciardo retired)

Verstappen finished third on the track but a five-second time penalty was imposed for forcing Bottas off the track earlier. Ricciardo retired with an engine failure, smoke billowing out of the rear of his car.

-

RENAULT (Carlos Sainz 8, Nico Hulkenberg 13)

Sainz pulled Renault further clear of Haas, who had Romain Grosjean disqualified from a sixth place that would have sent his team ahead. Renault had protested the legality of Grosjean’s car. Hulkenberg started last thanks to a 10-place grid penalty imposed in Belgium for causing a collision that took out McLaren’s Fernando Alonso and Sauber’s Charles Leclerc.

-

HAAS (Kevin Magnussen 16, Romain Grosjean disqualified)

Haas dropped back behind Renault after the Frenchman’s disqualification.

-

MCLAREN (Stoffel Vandoorne 12, Fernando Alonso retired)

Alonso retired after nine laps with a suspected electrical issue. Vandoorne made progress from 17th on the grid.

-

FORCE INDIA (Esteban Ocon 6, Sergio Perez 7)

The newly-saved team moved up another two places, ahead of Sauber and Toro Rosso, after Grosjean’s disqualification. Perez raced with a damaged car after an early clash with Magnussen.

-

TORO ROSSO (Pierre Gasly 14, Brendon Hartley retired)

Hartley was out of the race at the start with a broken front suspension, blaming Sauber’s Marcus Ericsson for squeezing him out. Gasly damaged his car’s floor in an incident with Alonso, and also had a tangle with Ricciardo.

-

SAUBER (Charles Leclerc 11, Marcus Ericsson 15)

Leclerc started 15th, Ericsson 18th. The Swede picked up a left rear puncture on the opening lap.

-

WILLIAMS (Lance Stroll 9, Sergey Sirotkin 10)

Williams scored for only the second time this season, with Stroll ending a place above where he started and Sirotkin taking his first point. (Reporting by Alan Baldwin, editing by Pritha Sarkar and Ed Osmond)
