LAGOS, Aug 1 (Reuters) - Nigeria’s Intercontinental Bank said on Monday it posted 3.6 billion naira ($23.5 million)in pre-tax profit for its half year ended June 30, compared with 2.45 billion for the same period last year.
Gross earnings fell to 40.60 billion naira from 43.69 billion last year, the bank said in a statement.
Intercontinental is one of nine lenders rescued by the central bank in $4 billion bail out package in 2009 and last month signed a merger agreement with peer Access Bank , paving the way for its recapitalisation. ($1 = 153.000 Nigerian Nairas) (Reporting by Oludare Mayowa; editing by Joe Brock)
