HOUSTON, Nov 1 (Reuters) - U.S. oil and natural gas producer Occidental Petroleum Corp said on Wednesday it swung to a quarterly profit due to a rise in commodity prices.

The company posted third-quarter net income of $190 million, or 25 cents per share, compared to a loss of $241 million, or 32 cents per share, in the year-ago period.

Production fell about 1 percent to 605,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. (Reporting by Ernest Scheyder; Editing by Bill Rigby)
