LIMA, July 25 (Reuters) - Peru’s President Martin Vizcarra will announce the start of Anglo American’s copper project Quellaveco on Thursday, Vizcarra’s office said in a statement.
Vizcarra’s office said Quellaveco would produce an average of 300,000 tonnes of copper annually in the first 10 years of its operation, higher than previous estimates of 225,000 tonnes.
Anglo American put Quellaveco on hold in 2013 but has the permits needed to develop it. The company did not immediately respond to requests for comment. (Reporting by Lima Newsroom; Editing by Sandra Maler)
