Spain's Ryanair cabin crew unions call off planned strike for Jan 10, 13

MADRID, Jan 9 (Reuters) - Unions representing Ryanair cabin crew in Spain said on Wednesday they had called off plans to strike Jan. 10 and Jan. 13 after reaching a preliminary agreement on contracts early on Wednesday morning.

“We believe this is a main achievement which contains a guarantee of employment stability and improves labour conditions alongside the main contention; the application of Spanish legislation,” the SITCPLA and USO unions said in a statement.

Ryanair suffered a number of strikes last year by pilots and cabin crew, forcing it to cancel hundreds of flights across Europe, after the airline recognised unions for the first time in 2017. (Reporting by Paul Day Editing by Jose Elias Rodriguez)
