South Africa's retail sales rise 4.8 percent y/y in March

JOHANNESBURG, May 16 (Reuters) - South African retail sales rose 4.8 percent year-on-year in March after increasing by a revised 4.2 percent in February, data from the statistics office showed on Wednesday.

On a month-on-month basis, sales were flat. Sales rose 4.1 percent in the three months to the end of March compared with the same period last year, Statistics South Africa said. (Reporting by Olivia Kumwenda-Mtambo Editing by Alexander Winning)
