ACCRA, June 22 (Reuters) - Portsmouth winger Sulley Muntari scored as Ghana reclaimed top spot in their World Cup qualifying group with a 2-0 home win over Gabon on Sunday.
Muntari got the second goal in the African qualifying zone Group Five match in Accra, the first time the Black Stars had played at the Ohene Djan stadium since their semi-final defeat in the African Nations Cup in February.
Striker Prince Tagoe put Ghana 1-0 up after 30 minutes as he flicked the ball on with his head and then ran past two defenders to score.
Muntari got the second goal with a close-range shot from Quincy Owusu-Abeyie’s cross.
Ghana lead Libya on goal difference at the top of the standings. Libya beat Lesotho 4-0 at home in their qualifier in Tripoli on Friday. (Writing by Mark Gleeson in Johannesburg; Editing by Clare Fallon)
