Soccer-Sacked Algeria coach Cavalli to coach in Casablanca

CASABLANCA, Dec 13 (Reuters) - French coach Jean-Michel Cavalli has signed a contract for the rest of the season with former African champions Wydad Casablanca of Morocco, the club announced.

Cavalli, former coach of Creteil, was fired as Algerian national team coach in September after the north Africans failed to qualify for the African Nations Cup finals in Ghana.

The 48-year-old Cavalli has also previously worked in Saudi Arabia and at Lille and Gazelec Ajaccio in France.

He replaces the Bulgarian Plamen Markov, fired by the club earlier this week after a string of mediocre league results.
