SAO PAULO, June 8 (Reuters) - A second-half penalty from Raphael Veiga gave Palmeiras a 1-0 win over Athletico Paranaense on Saturday and extended the Sao Paulo club’s lead at the top of the Serie A.
Veiga scored with 11 minutes remaining after Dudu was felled in the box.
The win means the current Brazilian champions are the only unbeaten side in the Brazilian first division after seven games.
Palmeiras, with six wins and a draw, lead the Serie A with 19 points, four ahead of Atletico Mineiro. (Reporting by Andrew Downie; editing by Tony Lawrence)
