RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - Rio de Janeiro club Flamengo lost an early goal but bounced back to score twice in the second half and beat rivals Vasco da Gama 2-1 away on Saturday.

Talles Magno put Vasco ahead after nine minutes when he neatly finished a quick counter attack.

Yet Leo Pereira’s first goal for Flamengo brought the sides level three minutes into the second half and then Bruno Henrique got the winner for the reigning league champions 19 minutes from fulltime.

The result was Flamengo’s fifth win in their last six games and lifted them into second place in the Serie A table, level on points with leaders Atletico Mineiro, who have played one game fewer.

Vasco, who fired their coach last week after a run of six games without a win, are in 10th spot, nine points behind their city rivals.
