HONG KONG, Oct 18 (Reuters) - Vitor Pereira, head coach of Chinese Super League leaders Shanghai SIPG, has been handed a three-game touchline ban by the country’s football authorities.
The Portuguese, who took over from Andres Villas-Boas ahead of the current season, was handed the suspension due to “unsporting behaviour” during his side’s 5-0 win over bottom side Guizhou Zhicheng this month.
SIPG are chasing their first Chinese Super League title and lead seven-time defending champions Guangzhou Evergrande by four points with five games remaining.
Pereira’s ban will see him miss the crucial meeting between the two teams in Guangzhou on Nov. 3.
The former Porto boss will also not be on the sidelines for this weekend’s clash with Jiangsu Suning or the game on Oct. 28 against third-placed Shandong Luneng.
