HONG KONG, Nov 25 (Reuters) - Cedric Bakambu’s second-half penalty earned Beijing Guoan a 1-1 draw with Shandong Luneng at the Workers’ Stadium in Beijing in the first leg of the Chinese FA Cup final on Sunday.
The former Villarreal striker had earlier conceded the penalty that allowed Diego Tardelli to give Shandong the lead 31 minutes into the game.
Yet Bakambu’s own spot-kick six minutes into the second half, after Gil’s handball, levelled the scores as the teams battle for the final piece of silverware in the Chinese season.
Shandong, who finished one spot ahead of Beijing in third place in the Chinese Super League this season, will host the second leg on Nov. 30.
The winners of the Chinese FA Cup will secure an automatic berth in the group stages of next year’s Asian Champions League while the runners-up will go into the continental competition’s qualifying rounds. (Reporting by Michael Church, Editing by Toby Davis )
