BERLIN, June 3 (Reuters) - Borussia Moenchengladbach have appointed former player Michael Frontzeck as their new head coach following a turbulent season that saw them avoid relegation on the final day.
The 45-year-old, who was sacked by Arminia Bielefeld just before they were relegated, signed a two-year deal, the club said on their website (www.borussia.de) on Wednesday.
Frontzeck takes over from Hans Meyer, who walked away from the job after securing Borussia’s place in the Bundesliga.
A former Borussia player for about 10 years, Frontzeck has also worked as an assistant coach at the club. (Writing by Karolos Grohmann; Editing by Peter Rutherford; To query or comment on this story email firstname.lastname@example.org)
