Italian juggernaut Juventus will face off with the best Major League Soccer has to offer at the league’s 2018 All-Star Game in Atlanta, MLS announced Thursday.
The match will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Aug. 1.
“Facing the MLS All-Stars will be a great opportunity to get closer to the many passionate football fans in America,” said Juventus president Andrea Agnelli in a statement.
“The first team will be ready in Atlanta, looking to show our quality and pride in being invited to play in this prestigious match.”
Juventus, champions of Italy’s Serie A for the last six seasons and UEFA Champions League finalists in 2015 and 2017, is the most decorated club in Italy, with more Serie A and Coppa Italia titles than any other club. The group, established in 1897, is led by coach Massimiliano Allegri and features stars Paulo Dybala, Gonzalo Higuain, Gianluigi Buffon, Miralem Pjanic and Giorgio Chiellini.
Higuain’s brother, Federico Higuain, plays for Columbus Crew SC of MLS.
Juventus is the second team from Italy’s Serie A to appear in the MLS All-Star Game, following Roma, which recorded a 3-1 victory in the 2013 event. Last year’s contest featured Real Madrid and ended when the Spanish club won 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 tie in normal time.
