The expansion Los Angeles Football Club continued to form its squad on Monday, signing midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye on a transfer from Louisville City FC of the USL.
“Mark-Anthony is a promising young player with great potential and versatility,” LAFC general manager John Thorrington said in a statement issued by the team. “We look forward to integrating him into the group as we believe he can become a significant contributor to our team immediately.”
Kaye, 23, appeared in 19 games for the Louisville side last season, scoring four goals to help lead the team to the league’s title. It was his second season with the club.
“Mark-Anthony is an exciting player who has shown creativity and good football both at Louisville City and at the international level,” LAFC head coach Bob Bradley said in the statement. “He gives our Club another talented option as we build our roster for the season.”
Kaye also began playing for the Canadian senior team in 2017, earning five caps. He previously played for the under-23 national team.
LAFC opens its inaugural season on March 4 on the road against the Seattle Sounders.
