Seattle Sounders center back Roman Torres announced his re-signing with the club on Monday on Twitter, although the Sounders have yet to officially announce the deal.
Torres, 31, told reporters at the MLS Media Day last month that he was “close” to finalizing a new deal with the Sounders, and indicated in his brief Twitter post Monday that it will be at least for two more years. He initially signed with the club in 2015 and secured Seattle’s first MLS title by converting on his attempt in extra penalty kicks in the 2016 MLS Cup.
He appeared in 23 regular-season and four playoff matches last season. Torres also scored the clinching goal that secured Panama’s first ever World Cup spot, which will take place in Russia this summer.
