SKC acquire F Nemeth from Revs for cash, 1st-rounder

Forward Krisztian Nemeth is headed back to Kansas City after Sporting KC acquired him from the New England Revolution on Monday, both teams announced.

In return, SKC will send the Revolution over $250,000 in targeted allocation, $100,000 in general allocation and their first-round pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft.

Nemeth, 29, totaled 10 goals and six assists in 28 games (23 starts) with Sporting KC in 2015, while also tying for the most goals in U.S. Open Cup play.

The Hungarian national was then transferred to Qatar to play for Al-Gharafa before joining the Revolution, who had acquired his rights in a trade with the Columbus Crew, last August.

In 49 career MLS games (30 starts), Nemeth has 11 goals and nine assists, putting 25 of 76 shots on frame.

“Krisztian is a player who has had success at our club and knows what goals we want to accomplish,” Sporting KC manager Peter Vermes said in a statement. “We are excited to welcome him back to Sporting KC, and his familiarity with our system will help him acclimate as we continue to push for playoff positioning.”
