* Valencia midfielder David Albelda is taking legal action against the club in an attempt to get them to release him from his contract, Radio Marca reported on Wednesday.
Albelda, goalkeeper Santiago Canizares and winger Miguel Angel Angulo were singled out by coach Ronald Koeman last month and told they would not play for the club again this season.
* Almeria have signed 19-year-old Brazilian left back Guilherme on a six-year contract from Vasco de Gama, the Primera Liga side said on Wednesday.
“The club has signed one of the pearls of Brazilian football,” the club said on its Web site (www.udalmeriasad.com).
* Everton hope South Africa wll give Steven Pienaar clearance to play in their League Cup semi-final first leg next Tuesday before he links up for the African Nations Cup.
Pienaar was due to join South Africa on Sunday which would rule him out of the tie but a decision has yet to be made on whether he can delay his departure. “We are trying our best so that I can stay for a bit longer,” Pienaar told Everton’s Web site (evertonfc.com). (Editing by Clare Lovell)
