SEOUL, Aug 31 (Reuters) - South Korea’s industrial output in July increased by a seasonally adjusted 1.9 percent in July from June, official data showed on Thursday, posting the biggest gain since January and beating market expectations.
The median forecast in a Reuters survey of analysts was for output to edge up 0.5 percent from June.
The June reading was revised to a 0.5 percent fall from a 0.2 percent decline.
On an annual basis, industrial output gained 0.1 percent, improving from a revised 0.5 percent fall in June.
Service sector output rose 0.6 percent from a month earlier in seasonally adjusted terms, after posting similar gains in June. (Reporting by Cynthia Kim and Christine Kim; Editing by Eric Meijer)
