HELSINKI, April 25 (Reuters) - Finnish paper firm Stora Enso reported higher-than-expected first quarter profit on Thursday helped by its pulp division.
The pulp, paper and packaging board maker said its adjusted operating profit in the quarter was 324 million euros, landing in the upper end of forecasts of 285-326 million in a Reuters analyst poll.
That was down 12.3 percent from a year earlier.
In February Stora Enso said it would cut annual costs by 120 million euros and lower capital expenditure by 50 million euros due to increased market uncertainty. (Reporting by Tarmo Virki and Anne Kauranen; editing by Jason Neely)
