Russian businessman Tinkov, facing tax charges, says he has leukaemia

MOSCOW, March 6 (Reuters) - Russian businessman Oleg Tinkov, the founder of TCS Group who is facing U.S. tax evasion charges, said on Friday he was diagnosed with acute leukaemia in October.

The U.S. Justice Department on Thursday charged Tinkov with filing false tax returns and he could face a maximum of six years in prison if extradited to the United States.

In a statement emailed to Reuters, he said the charges had prompted him to disclose his illness.
