July 13 (Reuters) - Here’s a look at the form and previous records of Spaniard Garbine Muguruza and Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia ahead of their semi-final match at Wimbledon on Thursday (prefix number denotes seeding):
14-Garbine Muguruza (Spain)
The Spaniard dropped out of the world top 10 after failing to retain her French Open crown last month but responded well on her return to grass, reaching the semi-finals in Birmingham.
The 2015 Wimbledon finalist has been in top form at this year’s championships, dropping only one set on her way to the semi-finals.
She defeated seventh seed Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia in straight sets in the quarter-finals.
Magdalena Rybarikova (Slovakia)
World number 87 Rybarikova is a surprise semi-finalist, having never reached the second week of a grand slam tournament.
The Slovakian was ranked as low a 453 in the world at the start the year when making her comeback from wrist and knee operations she had last year.
Rybarikova has since significantly improved her ranking having lifted four titles on the ITF Circuit. She beat American Coco Vandeweghe in straight sets to reach the last four. (Compiled by Hardik Vyas in Bengaluru; Editing by Ken Ferris)
