NAFTA talks round in Mexico to tackle rules of origin, market access

MEXICO CITY, Sept 1 (Reuters) - The second round of North American trade talks that opened Friday in the Mexican capital will include 25 negotiation tables covering a range of topics from product rules of origin to market access, Mexico’s economy ministry said in a statement.

The five-day round of talks to modernize the 23-year-old North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) linking Canada, the United States and Mexico will also address e-commerce and anti-corruption issues.

The statement added that both bilateral and trilateral meetings will be held with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Canadian foreign minister Chrystia Freeland on Tuesday. (Reporting by Mexico City newsroom)
