ISTANBUL, Jan 26 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Friday.
The lira stood at 3.7547 against the U.S. dollar at 0507 GMT, little changed from a close of 3.7546 on Thursday.
The yield on the benchmark 10-year bond was at 11.84 percent in spot trade on Thursday and remained unchanged for Friday-dated trade.
The main BIST 100 share index fell 0.87 percent to 118,604.05 points on Thursday.
Asian stocks came off record highs on Friday but were still poised to end the week with strong gains, while the battered dollar won back some ground after President Donald Trump said he wanted a strong U.S. currency.
President Tayyip Erdogan will attend a meeting of provincial leaders from his ruling AK Party (0800 GMT).
Prime Minister Binali Yildirim will also attend the meeting of provincial leaders from the AK Party (0800 GMT). He will then attend a chat hosted by the municipality of Istanbul’s Beyoglu (1600 GMT).
Turkey Statistical Institute will announce the economic confidence index for January (0700 GMT).
Business confidence among Turkish manufacturers rise to 108.3 points in January compared to 103.3 points in December, central bank data showed on Thursday.
Turkey urged the United States on Thursday to halt its support for Kurdish YPG fighters or risk confronting Turkish forces on the ground in Syria, some of Ankara’s strongest comments yet about a potential clash with its NATO ally. In Washington, the Pentagon said that it carefully tracked weapons provided to the YPG and would continue discussions with Turkey.
Syria’s main Kurdish groups have not received a final invite to a peace congress scheduled to take place in Russia next week and will not attend while a Turkish assault on Afrin continues, a senior Kurdish official said on Thursday.
