ANKARA, April 25 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Wednesday.
The lira stood at 4.0860 against the U.S. dollar at 0452 GMT, little changed from a close on Tuesday of 4.0814.
The yield on the benchmark 10-year bond was at 12.71 percent in spot trade at Tuesday’s close.
The main BIST 100 share index fell 0.79 percent to 110,058.62 on Tuesday.
Asian shares fell on Wednesday as a rise in U.S. bond yields to 3 percent and warnings from bellwether U.S. companies of higher costs drove fears that corporate earnings growth may peak soon. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan dropped 0.7 percent to its lowest in almost three weeks, with tech-heavy Taiwan shares .TWII hitting two-month lows on worries about slowing semi-conductor demand.
President Tayyip Erdogan will attend a ceremony to mark the 56th anniversary of the constitutional court (0730 GMT). Erdogan will meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev followed by a joint statement.(1030 GMT)
Turkey’s central bank will hold its monetary policy meeting. A Reuters poll showed on Friday that the state lender is expected hike its top rate by 50 basis points to 13.25 percent (1100 GMT)
Turkey told a European rights body “to mind its own business” after it voiced concern on Tuesday over the freedom and fairness of Turkish snap elections and recommended they be postponed.
Telecom operator Turkcell recorded a net profit of 500.8 million lira and revenue of 4.55 billion lira in the first quarter of 2018.
Turkey’s Vakifbank secured a syndicated loan equivalent to $1.3 billion.
