(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan reported at 7:30 p.m. British time (1230 GMT) on Monday.
KANDAHAR - Eight Afghan policemen were killed and three wounded when Taliban militants attacked their post in the Arghandab district of southern Kandahar province on Sunday, a police official said. A Taliban spokesman said their fighters killed 12 officers.
KABUL - Afghan and NATO-led troops killed six insurgents and detained 15 in several operations in various parts of the country on Sunday, the Afghan Defence Ministry said.
KANDAHAR - Three insurgents were killed when a roadside bomb they were planting exploded in Kandahar’s Panjwai district on Sunday, the Defence Ministry said in a statement. It said one suspect was detained.
FARAH - Taliban insurgents beheaded two kidnapped Afghans in western Farah province on Sunday after accusing them of assisting the government, police chief Faqir Ahmad Askar said. Three others who had also been kidnapped were released, he said.
