Brazil Socialist Party backs leftist Haddad for run-off against Bolsonaro

BRASILIA (Reuters) - The Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB) decided on Tuesday to support leftist presidential candidate Fernando Haddad for the second-round run-off vote on Oct. 28 against far-right front-runner Jair Bolsonaro, party president Carlos Siqueira said.

The PSB is Brazil’s seventh largest party after Sunday’s election and can deliver considerable support in the poorer northeast of Brasil for Haddad, the Workers Party hopeful who came second with 29.3 percent of the first-round vote, trailing Bolsonaro who won 46 percent.
