UK lawmakers back appointment of ex-Goldman partner Hall to BoE

LONDON (Reuters) - British lawmakers approved the appointment of Jonathan Hall, a former partner at Goldman Sachs and an expert on Libor and other interest rate benchmarks, to serve on the Bank of England’s Financial Policy Committee.

The lawmakers who sit on parliament’s Treasury Committee also approved the reappointment of BoE chief economist Andy Haldane and London School of Economics professor Silvana Tenreyro to the BoE’s Monetary Policy Committee.
