Police briefly evacuate area near London's Canary Wharf

LONDON (Reuters) - Police said they had stood down an investigation at South Quay station near London’s Canary Wharf financial district after buildings and a footbridge were briefly evacuated in a security scare on Tuesday.

A police spokeswoman said they had investigated suspicious packages but that the area had been declared safe. British police and security services are on high alert following a series of attacks at high profile locations last year.
