UK government immigration target is a political goal - committee

LONDON (Reuters) - The British government’s aim to reduce annual net migration to below 100,000 people is a political target rather than a part of immigration policy, Alan Manning, head of the Migration Advisory Committee said on Tuesday.

Manning was speaking after his committee released a report that said the government should not give preferential treatment to citizens from the European Union after Brexit.
