Scottish Conservatives warn PM May on post-Brexit fishing

EDINBURGH (Reuters) - Scottish lawmakers in Prime Minister Theresa May’s party warned her on Thursday that their 13 votes in parliament were conditional on getting assurances about how the fishing industry would operate after Brexit.

“Our support (for the Brexit draft) is conditional on further clarification and assurances which we expect in the coming days,” Conservative lawmaker Andrew Bowie told the BBC.

Bowie said the terms in which the fishing trade was described in May’s draft Brexit deal was ambiguous and that the group wanted something specific guaranteeing that Britain would be an “independent coastal state” by December 2020.
