LONDON (Reuters) - A man appeared in court on Tuesday charged with the murder of Krystal Hart, the pregnant woman shot dead at her south London house last week.
Unemployed Thomas Hughes, 40, from Battersea, London, was remanded in custody by Wimbledon magistrates to appear at the Old Bailey on July 17.
Hughes, who was arrested on Sunday after walking into a south London police station, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address.
Hart, 22, was found dead at her flat on Friday. A post mortem found she died from two gunshots to the head.
Hart’s mother Deborah Penfold said her family’s life would never be the same again.
“No words can describe the depths of our despair at the sudden and tragic loss of a most precious and beautiful young woman,” she said in a statement at the time of her daughter’s death.
“Not only have I lost my daughter but I’ve lost my grandchild in the senseless and tragic murder of a young woman in the prime of her life.”
