BHP reviewing plans ahead of possible strike at Chile's Escondida mine

SANTIAGO (Reuters) - Anglo-Australian miner BHP (BHP.AX)(BLT.L) said on Thursday it had begun to review contingency plans ahead of a possible strike by union workers at its Escondida copper mine in Chile, the world’s largest.

The company said in a statement that the wage offer rejected earlier today by the union was the “best collective labour contract at a private mine in the country.”
