BRATISLAVA (Reuters) - Slovakia’s Finance Minister Peter Kazimir said on Tuesday he would run to succeed Jozef Makuch as head of Slovakia’s central bank and European Central Bank policymaker.

Makuch said earlier on Tuesday he would step down in March to allow the euro zone country’s parliament to elect a successor before an election in the spring of 2020.

Makuch named Kazimir as a suitable replacement in September, when he first said he was considering leaving his post early.
