LONDON (Reuters) - Britain intends to fully honour the communique agreed at a Group of Seven summit at the weekend and hopes that the United States will honour its commitments, Prime Minister Theresa May’s spokesman said on Monday.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday he was backing out of the G7 comminque which agreed on the need for “free, fair, and mutually beneficial trade” and the importance of fighting protectionism.

“The communique was agreed by all the parties who attended the G7 and we fully intend to honour it,” the spokesman told reporters. “We would hope that the U.S. will similarly honour the commitments that they have made.”
