Brazil hopes Honduras negotiations entering new stage

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Brazil is hopeful that the return of ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya to Tegucigalpa will represent a new stage in the negotiations with the country’s de facto rulers, Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim said on Monday.

Speaking to reporters in New York, Amorim confirmed Zelaya had taken refuge in the Brazilian embassy in Tegucigalpa with his wife. He said he spoke to the ousted president directly by telephone.
