Hungary not planning to ask for observer seat at euro group - newspaper

BUDAPEST (Reuters) - Hungary is not planning to ask for an observer seat at the euro group of euro zone finance ministers at the moment, business daily Vilaggazdasag reported on Thursday citing the Economy Ministry.

The Czech foreign minister said earlier this month that having an observer status in the euro zone would be beneficial for his country.

Newspaper Vilaggazdasag said, citing the Economy Ministry that Hungary’s government was “continuously monitoring” the ideas that are taking shape regarding the future of the euro zone. Hungary has no target date for adopting the euro.
