Death toll climbs to 28 killed in N.Iraq blast

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest struck a crowd of Iraqi police recruits at a recruitment station in a volatile northern province on Tuesday, killing 28 people and wounding 45, a police source said.

Initial reports had described the attack, in the town of Jalawla in northern Diyala province, as a car bomb at a checkpoint and gave lower death tolls.
