TOKYO (Reuters) - The Tokai region in central Japan is likely to see its economy continue expanding despite external headwinds, such as the simmering U.S.-China trade friction, a senior Bank of Japan official said on Monday.
“Risks regarding overseas economies are large,” said Tokiko Shimizu, the head of the BOJ’s Nagoya branch. The Tokai region is home to auto giant Toyota Motor Corp.
“But our baseline scenario is for the region’s economy to continue expanding,” she told a news conference.
