Japan's top FX diplomat warns against excess currency volatility

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan’s top currency diplomat said on Friday each country will cooperate with one another and take appropriate action as needed if there is excess volatility in currency markets.

“There has lately been some jittery moves in the currency market,” Masatsugu Asakawa, Japan’s vice finance minister for international affairs, told reporters after a meeting with his counterpart at the Bank of Japan and Financial Services Agency.

The meeting is held occasionally to exchange views on financial and economic developments.
