Balshaw signs on for Barbarians

SYDNEY (Reuters) - New Zealand lock Chris Jack, Ireland fullback Geordan Murphy, South Africa prop BJ Botha and England utility back Iain Balshaw have all agreed to play for the Barbarians against Australia at Sydney next month.

The four all confirmed their participation Thursday.

The Barbarians have now recruited 16 players for the June 6 match at the Sydney Football Stadium. The final squad will be announced next week.

The Barbarians are an invitational team made up of players from any country in the world, including their opponents. They traditionally include at least one uncapped player in their lineup.

Preliminary squad - Rocky Elsom (Australia), Jerry Collins (New Zealand), Martin Corry (England), Chris Jack (New Zealand), BJ Botha (South Africa), Serge Betsen (France), Justin Harrison (Australia), Sebastien Bruno (France), Sonny Bill Williams (uncapped), Justin Marshall (New Zealand), Geordan Murphy (Ireland), Luke McAlister (New Zealand) , Seilala Mapusua (Samoa), Doug Howlett (New Zealand), Josh Lewsey (England), Iain Balshaw (England).
