LYON (Reuters) - Italy have called up Benetton Treviso flanker Silvio Orlando into their World Cup squad to replace injured club colleague Robert Barbieri, the Italian Rugby Federation said on Friday.

Barbieri sustained an injury to his left thigh in his side’s 23-20 defeat to Ireland in a warm-up in Belfast on August 24.

Italy said Orlando had already joined his team mates at their base in Saint-Remy-de Provence, while Barbieri had returned home.

The Azzurri, who lost 76-14 to New Zealand in their opening match in Pool C and beat Romania 24-18 in their second, meet Portugal in their next game in Paris on September 19.
