Thirty-two teams are divided into eight groups of four, with groups played on a regional basis (four in the west and four in the east).
The top two in each group advance to the Round of 16, with matches still played on a regional basis.
Winners of the western half face off against the winners of the eastern side in a two-legged final in November.
