MADRID (Reuters) - Spanish police have arrested two professional footballers and two football agents after seizing 600 kg of cocaine shipped in from Argentina, police said on Thursday.
The police, who also arrested another seven people in connection with the investigation, did not identify any of those detained.
The drugs arrived in Spain in a container meant to carry equipment, the police said.
Argentina has become a well-known transit route for cocaine produced in Colombia, Bolivia or Peru, while Spain has long been favoured by South American traffickers as a point of entry into Europe.
