Spanish unemployment rate hits its highest rate since 1976

MADRID (Reuters) - Spain’s unemployment rate rose to 24.6 percent in the second quarter of this year, data from the National Statistics Institute showed on Friday, up from 24.4 percent in the previous quarter.

Economists polled by Reuters forecast the Spanish unemployment rate, the European Union’s highest, would rise to 24.9 percent.
